 Kitchen & Bath
A visit to the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) yielded several themes that are important to keep in mind over the year ahead.
Trend Snapshot
1 CONTRASTING FINISHES
Matte Black and Polished Gold and Brass remain
a strong trend in lighting fixtures as well as in faucets and plumbing fittings; however, in appliances there are plenty of mixed metals
as well. At GE, experts predict that matte finishes, which have been prevalent for seasons past, will stay a key design element in 2020. The experts note, “Designers are experimenting with different levels of shine, from soft sheen to full gloss with a mirror-like finish that bounces light around a room. Prevalent in the furniture design shows this season, traditional lacquer and lacquer-like surfaces
are making a comeback among designers who look to time-honored craft processes (like Urushi)
to create unexpected contemporary looks.”

Among the KBIS introductions featuring contrasting finishes was Signature Kitchen Suite’s 36-inch, dual-fuel pro range with steam- assist oven and built-in sous vide to deliver precision cooking on the cooktop.
