LIGHTING SCIENCE
The DurabulbM is a sha er-resistant light bulb
designed to withstand life’s inevitable bumps
and drops without breaking. Unlike traditional
incandescent bulbs, this light is reportedly highly
durable, making it ideal for rough and tumble areas
like garages, game rooms, basements, and children’s
bedrooms. Its tough, polycarbonate plastic shell also
lends itself to rough service commercial applications
such as factory se ings and indoor construction sites.
The Durabulb is estimated to use approximately
80 percent less energy than comparable
incandescent bulbs and, in addition, it is packaged in
recyclable plastic tubs of 10 to 20 bulbs as well as
more traditional two-pack options. According to the
company, the Durabulb uses 30 percent less material
than similar products and, as a result of its unique
design and packaging, shipping the Durabulb
produces about 40 percent less CO2 emissions than
standard LED lighting.
