 SPOTLIGHT ON:
FRANKIE DAVIDSON
Three new lines debut, invigorating the category. BY NICOLE DAVIS
Debuting at High Point this fall, lighting and accessories company Frankie Davidson is one to watch. Helmed by one-woman-show Frankie Galbraith, the Modern Traditional line will offer retailers and
designers plenty of options.
The name Galbraith might sound familiar – Frankie’s father, Alan, is Presi-
dent of lighting and home furnishings company John-Richard – but Frankie is making a name for herself with the launch of Frankie Davidson. Galbraith worked under her father at John-Richard for 13 years, working her way up by doing “a little bit of everything.” She’s now taking that experience to forge out on her own.
“I was so lucky to be able to work for, and learn from, my father,” Galbraith says. “Now, I just feel it’s time for me to step out of his shadow and see what I can do.”
In its permanent space in Market Square, Frankie Davidson will offer buyers about 90 pieces in its debut, including portable lamps and accents like wall panels, vases, candleholders, and boxes.
Galbraith designed all of the product on her own, working with a close friend and a factory in India. And although design work was new to her, it was not the most challenging aspect of getting the company – which was just created in November 2018 – up and running.
“Handling all of the legal stuff was the hardest part,” she says.
She’s excited for her debut at the fall market, and Galbraith already has her eyes set on April, working on product for the spring show at the time of this interview. Get a look at Frankie Davidson Lighting and Accents in person at Market Square 288.
