Lighting One- John Rot

Accepting the Humanitarian Award is John Rot of Horton’s in the Chicago area for his work on the H Foundation he founded on behalf of coworkers who had passed on from cancer. “We’ve raised $6 million so far for cancer research,” he said. “The H Foundation does not stand for Horton’s; it stands for Pam Hertz, who was 31 years old [when she was diagnosed]. The H Foundation is about the industry coming together. We wanted the fundraiser [Goombay Bash] to be affordable so everyone who has been touched by cancer in some way could participate. It’s about the industry coming together. When I look around this room, I see people with small businesses — whether you are a showroom or a supplier — and that’s who we are as the H Foundation. To each of you I say, ‘Thank You, my lighting family.’”
