WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald to Speak IES/AIA: Garden City, N.Y.-based WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald will deliver a presentation on Organic LEDs (OLEDs) at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at 35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 250 in Chicago, from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, April 25. Sponsored by the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) Chicago Chapter, the presentation is titled “A Niche for OLED in a World of LED.”
With entirely different characteristics from its conventional LED cousins, OLEDs offer new possibilities in lighting. Wald, the winner of an Industry Leadership award, is the IES’ invited speaker for this event, where she will illustrate the history, development, and unique design features of OLED lighting.
Wald is responsible for launching WAC Lighting campaign, which highlights a commitment to responsible manufacturing practices and energy-efficient technology, as well as providing opportunities for those who are less fortunate. WAC develops nearly all of its products to a component level within a wholly owned zero-landfill ISO 14001/9001-certified manufacturing campus with in-house UL approved testing labs. WAC has a reputation for utilizing new light sources, such as the recent Sol decorative chandelier that is powered by OLEDs.
A dedicated contributor to the lighting profession, Wald also serves on the Standards Technical Panels for the development of safety standards for OLED Lighting and for LED Lighting with Underwriters Laboratories (UL). She co-organized the American Lighting Association’s Youth Initiative and maintains a Lighting Specialist designation. She is active with the AIA, the National Association of Electrical Distributors, IES, and the Electrical Manufacturer’s Club.
