In late June, the Interior Home + Design Center debuted with large crowds, new showrooms, and special guests from the global design and retail communities heralding the redesigned building as an important new center of home décor and interior design excellence.
More than 600 guests attended the gala grand opening party, which inaugurated phase one of the largest expansion of home décor showrooms at Dallas Market Center in more than forty years. A private reception hosted by Dallas Market Center and title sponsor ELLE DECOR commemorated the celebration.
Invited guests enjoyed light bites, a dessert bar, signature cocktail, and champagne along with entertainment from DJ Brandon Olds. Individual showrooms inside the Interior Home + Design Center held receptions and special events creating a progressive party throughout the newly renovated building.
“The grand opening was tremendously successful on all levels but more importantly it signals our long-range commitment to expanding our exhibitor partners’ business and reaching more buyers year-round,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “We look forward to the next phase of this project, which is already underway, and to welcoming additional leading companies into this vibrant marketplace.”
“The event was exactly what we had hoped for, and we were thrilled with the excitement,” said Jane Murray, owner of Taylors. “We saw lots of loyal customers throughout the show, and we picked up new customers too. I’m looking forward to the remainder of the year and strong daily traffic from the design community.” Taylors is a leading agency of luxury lighting and home décor and represents ten manufacturers including the largest Visual Comfort showroom in the world.
The redesigned mid-century modern building includes many of the most respected home décor companies in the U.S. including Phillips Collection; Palecek; Visual Comfort; Ralph Lauren Home; Bliss Studio; Dessau Home; Emissary; in2green; SHADOW CATCHERS; Ambella Home Collection; ZUO; RATANA; Austin Allen James; ellahome; Spicher and Company; Ashore; Amity Home; The Botanical Mix; Farm & Factory; Robin Baron; Cari Davis; UMTD Bath Design; A Touch of Silk; Cloud9 Design; Zuhaus; Wink Gaines Photography; Lacefield Designs; Lazur Bespoke; Rose Casual; and Taylors.
“This wonderful new building showcases our collections in stylish space highly convenient to both retailers and designers,” said Allan Palecek, founder of Palecek. “The grand opening was just the first chapter of success for Palecek’s new home in Dallas. We are extremely pleased.”
Mark Phillips, CEO and president of Phillips Collection added: “We are very pleased with our larger space showcasing our collections, and the opening events were outstanding. Our team looks forward to the year-round design events and to serving retailers and interior designers with one-of-a-kind pieces and new designs.”
“I surpassed every expectation at this first show by opening several large accounts as well as meeting lots of potential customers,” said artist Austin Allen James, who has space in The Gallery, a shared showroom located in the central corridor of the Interior Home + Design Center. “This new space is just fantastic: easy to showcase my art for retailers to review and to place orders and for interior designers to make an immediate purchase. I am very pleased.”
Following the grand opening, a Day of Education on Thursday presented insights and inspiration from design luminaries including James Swan, Robin Baron, Michelle Nussbaumer, Nancy Price, Hermes Mallea, Toma Clark Haines, and Daniel Larsson to standing-room only crowds of eager interior designers and home décor retailers.
Construction of phase two began July 5 and includes exterior façade renovations, exterior landscaping, and the next stage of interior showrooms, culminating with a celebration in the fall.
Dallas Market Center is the largest and most successful design center in the U.S., welcoming thousands of interior designers to its global trade events, including Total Home & Gift Market, in addition to hosting more than 2,000 members of the design community each month visiting an unequaled collection of open-daily showrooms.
