The Las Vegas Market has announced that its intensive “retail relations” outreach efforts and accelerated resource growth have fueled large gains in home décor and gift registration for the Summer 2013 Market. An unprecedented 3,500+ new-to-market buyers from these categories (representing all 50 states) are planning to attend the event for the first time. Concurrent with this surge in registration activity, traffic on the Gift + Home Web site is up a whopping 539% for the Summer Market compared to one year ago.
“This extraordinary increase in registration and buyer interest is a result of our efforts to exponentially increase Las Vegas Market’s gift and home décor resources and extensive efforts to improve customer interactions through Las Vegas Market’s Retail Relations call center,” explains Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor at International Market Centers. “Earlier this year, Las Vegas Market launched a comprehensive customer outreach initiative of unprecedented size and scope to attract new, qualified gift and home décor buyers, and we are delighted with such immediate – and impressive – results. The growth in gift and home décor resources will complement the existing furniture resources and create a comprehensive, cross-category shopping experience.”
As part of its customer outreach program, Las Vegas Market strengthened its Retail Relations team by adding 15 knowledgeable and dedicated specialists charged with exponentially growing gift and home décor buyer attendance by enhancing awareness of and interest in the Market. These specialists have been calling and connecting with new buyers at a rate of 600 calls per day, or 3,000 calls per week; more than 25,000 calls have been completed to date.
“Anecdotally, our call center specialists report that buyers are excited and energized by our efforts to transform Las Vegas Market into the leading home furnishings and gift destination in the western United States,” Belshaw adds. “We’re confident that these attendance gains will drive additional business for showroom tenants and temporary exhibitors throughout the market.”
This summer, the number of gift and home décor resources presented at Las Vegas Market will be significantly larger than in winter 2013, with more than 1,150 new-to-market lines presented in more than half-a-million square feet of new showroom space. More than 40 high-profile gift and home décor brands have expanded or opened new permanent showrooms for summer 2013 alone.
Retailers from all 50 states have registered to attend the Summer Las Vegas Market, led by registrations from CA, AZ., OR, WA, NV, NM, CO, UT, TX, and NE. International buyers will have a major presence at the Summer show as well, with retailers registering from 73 different countries.
Scott Eckman, chief marketing & strategy officer at International Market Centers, remarks, “We expect the major increase in home décor and gift registration and Web activity to result in a significant increase in year-over-year attendance for the Summer Las Vegas Market. Some 60 percent of the home décor buyers who attend this market also shop for furniture and 41 percent shop for furniture, home décor, and gift, so the surge in gift and home décor interest will benefit the overall growth of Las Vegas Market and generate valuable crossover traffic for our furniture showrooms. In addition to these new home décor and gift buyers, 90% of the top 100 retailers with distribution west of the Mississippi – many of which shop across categories – have registered for market.”
