Residential Lighting Training Course to be held during June Lightovation

Dallas Market Center and Lightovation have announced that the American Lighting Association (ALA) will hold its popular four-day Residential Lighting Training Course (RLTC) during the June edition of Lightovation (June 24-27). The course will take place Tuesday, June 23, through Friday, June 26, in The SMART Center (Trade Mart 4826).

Since The SMART Center opened in June 2018, ALA has hosted the RLTC successfully twice off-market, in October, but this is the first time the course will be offered during the show for the convenience of participants.

This course is recommended for professionals from all areas who have basic lighting knowledge and would benefit from more extensive training in light sources, light fixtures, residential lighting design, technology updates, and effective sales techniques. It will be taught by Joe Rey-Barreau, AIA, IES, who has successfully led many attendees from varying backgrounds and experience levels through the RLTC.

In addition, ALA has worked closely with Dallas Market Center to schedule the course hours around planned Lightovation events, so that attendees may participate in the educational course and experience the show. Tuesday, June 23, will be a full course day, while the remaining three days will be morning sessions, leaving afternoons open to explore Lightovation’s 1 million square feet of lighting resources.

“This course is a great opportunity for people who regularly attend Lightovation to add value to their visit to Dallas,” says Nici Juneau, ALA’s Director of Education. “We also hope members will consider sending new attendees to the event to enjoy all the great things Lightovation has to offer, while taking advantage of one of our most popular and successful training opportunities.”

“This important training event is a key feature of Lightovation this summer,” says Cindy Morris, President and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “We are thrilled to work with ALA to present timely information on design, technology, and sales to Lightovation attendees.”

The RLTC provides members with the opportunity to enjoy in-person training and review of the content covered in the Residential Lighting Training Manual (RLTM) with a qualified instructor. At the conclusion of the course, participants will be given the ALA Lighting Specialist (LS) Exam, and upon successful completion, awarded their LS designation. This is one of the most effective ways of earning the LS designation, and has long been one of the association’s most popular and well-attended training opportunities. Attendees must pre-register and bring their own copies of the RLTM.

The cost to participate is $675 plus the cost of the RLTM. Complete information is available at ALAMembers.com/Professional-Education/Live-Training.

June Residential Lighting Training Course registrants who are part of the Light Stars program will receive a discount on the course registration and the RLTM. They will also receive four free hotel nights, rather than the normal two nights offered to Light Stars. Nominations for the Light Stars program, which also provides air travel, will be accepted at www.dallasmarketcenter.com/lightstars through March 1.
