Year-End Wrap Up: The Best In Residential Lighting

Holtkötter International: The popular Bernie task lamp is outfitted with eight 1.5-watt Cree LEDs (equivalent to an 80-watt halogen) and an integral dimmer. Made in Germany, it is available in Chrome, Polished Brass/Brushed brass combination, hand-brushed Old Bronze, and Satin Nickel (shown) finishes. Vaxcel: The Meritage collection features a Black Iron-finished frame accented with charred wood.  Pillar candle-style Antique Cream glass diffusers add elegance.  The fixture measures 28″W x 29″H and is lamped with six 100-watt bulbs.

Bungalow Belt: Made of engineered wood construction in a gloss black finish, the 28”-high Manhattan Garden lamp can suit both modern environments as well as kids’ rooms with its colorful, painted modern flowers and dragonfly design. Lite Source: The EL-10078 hanging fixture is distinguished by graceful lines, Chrome metal frames, clear crystal rings, and white frosted bubble-style ornamentation finished with small individually cut crystal droplets. The top canopy light contains three 3-watt GU10 LED bulbs and the hanging lights are 20-watt G4 halogens.

2nd Avenue Lighting: The Penelope 6-Light chandelier boasts a white shantung Silkette shade and six white frosted glass candle covers.  The decorative steel arms and diamond and cross designs inside the ringed frame are hand-finished in Brushed Nickel. Handcrafted in Yorkville, New York. Meyda Lighting: Custom-made by artisans in New York, the Winter Solstice six-light chandelier is constructed of bent steel tubing with six Cream silk, pleated shades and candlelights on bobeches attached to the branches.  It is hand-painted in a Wrought Iron finish.

MaxLite: The company’s plug-and-play, dimmable LED Lightbars are easy to install for custom applications. Designed with an integral built-in LED driver, using a grounded three-wire construction, the self-driven luminaires plug right into existing 120-volt electrical systems. WAC Lighting: Powered by five watts of LED, the nostalgic Milford Schoolhouse glass pendants with milk white shades provide warm illumination, but are cool to the touch. Part of the Early Electric Collection, the Milford pendants bring a softer side of schoolhouse to a variety of spaces.

Allegri: The contemporary geometry of crystals in the Vermeer wall sconce refract light beautifully, reflecting patterns on the wall. The Vermeer collection – which also contains chandelier and flush-mount versions – is offered in a Chrome finish as well as Black Pearl. Kalco Lighting: The New Haven collection, with its clean mid-century design, features recycled burlwood accents and shades. The collection includes a chandelier, mini pendant, two flushmount fixtures, a one-light sconce, and two bath fixtures.

Hinkley Lighting: The Zen cable-hung, four-light square chandelier pairs wood with an etched glass diffuser. Constructed with sustainable, environmentally friendly bamboo and made in the USA, this fixture utilizes an energy-efficient LED light source. It is part of the Hinkley’s Fredrick Ramond divison. Edge Lighting: A winner in the 2012 Next Generation Luminaires competition, the Soft Line has a suspended cupped aluminum channel that is supported by adjustable turnbuckles and acts as a heat shield. The system is available in a warm-white, commercial-grade version or a RGB Soft Strip, and in a combination of both.
