Donovan Designs Celebrates 25th Anniversary With New Collection

[dropcap style=”letter” size=”52″ bg_color=”#ffffff” txt_color=”#000000″]T[/dropcap]o celebrate his company’s 25th anniversary, designer Art Donovan of Long Island-based Donovan Designs has created a series of lamps – called the Summer Golden Collection – that celebrate the original classicism reflected in his original lighting line a quarter-century ago.

In this collection, Donovan brings a Modernist attitude to popular Industrial styling and renders his new designs in a petite size ranging from 15” to 18” high. With touches of Art Deco and Bauhaus, Donovan employs a proprietary warm Summer Gold metal finish.

“I envisioned an accent lamp collection that is bold in personality. This bibelot collection of tailored lighting shines with a warm elegance and is rendered in evocative forms,” says designer and  company President Art Donovan. Each of the four lamps in the limited-edition series are handmade, signed, and dated.

 

Fanimation Celebrates Double ADEX Win for Design

Zionsville, Ind.-based Fanimation is the recipient of two 2015 Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) for its innovative ceiling fan design in the Beckwith and Zonix LED models. The Beckwith received the Platinum honor, while Zonix LED earned the Gold.  

Selected by a panel of professionals representing a cross section of the design industry, the Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) recognize the best product and project designs of the year in the architectural and design industries.  The 2015 ADEX Awards, which was sponsored by Design Journal, attracted upwards of 500 companies submitting more than 2,000 new products.

 

LEDucation 9 Breaks Records

With over 230+ leading manufacturers from the U.S., Canada, and Europe exhibiting their latest solid-state lighting technologies and products, LEDucation hosted its largest event in its 9-year history. The two-day educational event and tabletop expo – held at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City –

attracted more than 3,000 attendees. As one of the industry’s largest events dedicated to LED technology, the annual event historically draws thousands of lighting designers, interior designers, architects, engineers, students, facility managers, and building owners from New York and surrounding areas including Boston and Philadelphia.

The Designers Lighting Forum of NY (DLFNY) offered 17 accredited educational sessions with topics that ranged from the basics of LED lighting to healthcare applications, wireless controls, designing with OLED,  and updates to codes and compliance.
