Emeryville, Calif.-based Elemental LED, and The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) have announced the relocation of Elemental LED’s U.S. manufacturing and R&D operations to Reno, Nevada. The company is moving its corporate headquarters into an adjacent property located in the South Meadows area of Reno and expects to be operational by end of the third quarter of 2017. In addition, Elemental LED plans to hire up to 100 employees over the next two years.
The manufacturer of low-voltage linear lighting solutions and innovative technology advancements has two sales divisions: Diode LED (wholesale supplier of LED lighting solutions for commercial and residential applications) and Business Solutions (consulting, design, and engineering large-scale projects customized for retail, hospitality, and displays).
“Elemental LED has seen an acceleration of growth over recent years, and we were simply out of room to expand in Emeryville,” says Randy Holleschau, CEO of Elemental LED. “We explored a variety of location options that would offer competitive operating costs, extensive access to skilled talent, an attractive cost of living for our current and future staff, and a geographical location that supports our continued growth and expansion. We ultimately decided that Reno meets these criteria and underscores our commitment to both our customers and our employees. Therefore, we are thrilled to announce today that Reno, Nevada will be the future Elemental LED Headquarters and Operations Center.”
Elemental LED will hire to fill positions in engineering, project support, manufacturing, marketing, IT, sales, customer service, shipping/receiving, and supply chain.
“It is my pleasure to welcome Elemental LED to the City of Reno and specifically to Ward 2,” states Ward 2 Reno City Council Member Naomi Duerr. “The Biggest Little City is an emerging hub for manufacturing, so it makes sense that Elemental LED has decided to add their bright light of innovation to the mix in the region.”
“We are excited that Elemental LED has selected Reno for their new operations [and] headquarters and the place for their dramatic, projected growth,” comments Mike Kazmierski, President and CEO of EDAWN. “The company’s long-term plans to move some of their manufacturing from China to Reno will further help to strengthen our domestic productivity and the economy for generations. The fact that they also chose to move their headquarters here is significant and shows that they intend to be here for the long term.”
Other organizations that assisted Elemental LED with the decision to relocate to Nevada are the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Jones Lang LaSalle, Kidder-Mathews, Panattoni Development, CBRE, and Pro-Equity.
