Family-owned lighting distributor Gross Electric – which has stores in Michigan and Ohio – recently raised $5,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association and the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio through its annual golf outing.  More than 60 local electrical contractors and builders gathered at Sylvania Country Club near Toledo, Ohio, for this year’s event.

The two charities were chosen because of the direct impact they have had on the Gross family.  In January 2014, Richard Gross, the father of current owners Laurie and Joe Gross, passed away from dementia.  Their mother, Skip Gross, has macular degeneration.

“These are two organizations that we personally support,” says Laurie Gross.  “It was very gratifying to see the way our customers stepped up to contribute to the charities.”

According to Joe Gross, the company has hosted golf outings for many years as a way of thanking their customers.  Last year was the first time the company decided to add a fundraising component to the event and they intend to continue that tradition into the future.
