Castleton, Vt.-based lighting manufacturer Hubbardton Forge’s Cavaletti Collection received the 2013 ASFD Pinnacle Award for design in the Lighting category. This recent win marks the ninth time the company has won the Pinnacle award.
“The design team would like to thank the judges for selecting Hubbardton Forge and to our extended family of dealers and reps who are spreading our message, our story, out to the country every day. It really is a team effort that allows us to bring a truly special product to market,” says David Kitts, Director of Design for Hubbardton Forge.
The Cavaletti lighting collection features dynamically tapered, forged elements that are handmade in the Vermont factory. Its design begins with a piece of square steel barstock and undergoes a multi-step process of being heated in the forge, and then hand-tapered to create a new shape. Once welded, the lamp assembly is washed in a closed-loop, bio-remediation system, and is finished with a state-of-the-art powdercoating process, with no VOCs, thus minimizing its environmental impact. Available as a pendant, table and floor lamps, and an ADA-compliant wall sconce, the The Cavaletti series is offered in a choice of finishes and shades.
The Pinnacle Awards were created in April 1995 by the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) to promote design quality and encourage the recognition of designers within the retail home furnishings industry.
