California-based lighting veteran Cheryl Nichol, principal of Complete Lighting Sales, passed away unexpectedly in April. After earning a degree in Interior Design, she learned the lighting business as showroom manager for Upland Lighting in Upland, California. She was a member of numerous design organizations such as the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH), where she held several leadership positions in her chapter, plus was an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
After several years in lighting retail, she altered her career path to become a lighting rep. Over the ensuing 18 years, she represented manufacturers such as Quorum, American-De Rosa (Luminance), Designers Fountain, Illuminating Experiences, Basic Source, Hanover, Concord Fans, Starfire, and Worldwide Lighting. She achieved Sales Representative of the Year in 2004 from American-De Rosa and Sunset Lighting & Fans. She is fondly remembered by her many colleagues and friends in the industry.
