Meyda Custom Lighting Makes Key Factory Improvements

Meyda Custom Lighting: Headquartered in Yorkville, N.Y., Meyda Custom Lighting has upgraded its plasma-cutting equipment to enhance its custom capabilities, service, and lead times. “We now have the capacity to cut up to 1.25″-thick steel,” explains Meyda Custom Lighting’s CEO Robert Cohen. “We can also cut thinner material more quickly and accurately with less waste, broadening our custom capabilities.”

The new equipment and technologies will help Meyda fulfill custom orders more quickly and substantially reduce turnaround time on specification-based residential and commercial projects. Meyda artisans utilize the plasma cutter to laser-cut steel and other metals so they can be formed into a variety of shapes and styles used for popular lighting designs and accents. The finished metals become decorative accents and scrollwork for custom chandeliers and other lighting fixtures, from the diminutive to grand-scale masterworks.

“The beauty of the custom lighting business is the continuous integration of new technology with Old World craftsmanship,” Cohen says. “Our new plasma cutter enables us to expand our manufacturing capabilities and expedite custom lighting orders quicker to meet our customers’ most demanding shipping requirements.”
