The 7th edition of HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) will be held April 6 to 9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with approximately 1,100 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions expected to participate.
The total value of Hong Kong’s export of lighting products reportedly exceeded $1.3 billion US in 2014. The most important export markets for Hong Kong are the U.S., the Chinese mainland, and Japan — together these countries account for more than 50% of the total export value. Just by itself, the U.S. registered significant growth performance with export value expanded by 25% year-on-year.
In answer to rising demand, a new category in the exhibition – “World of Professional & Industrial Lighting” – will make its debut at the April fair. This category covers a broad range of products including stage lights, emergency and safety lights, architectural lighting, hospital lighting, and other situation-specific applications, with LED options.
The Fair offers global buyers one-stop-shop sourcing for all finished products, parts, and components and with categories such as Hall of Aurora, LED & Green Lighting, Advertising Display Lighting, Avenue of Chandeliers, and Avenue of Inspiration.
“As the official worldwide licensee for Ford Lighting Solutions and Ford Home Solutions, we were pleased to participate in the Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) in 2014 to present the worldwide launch of Ford Lighting Solutions. We have been overwhelmed by inquiries about potential distributorship…Western European countries have been leading the charge, but we have also received many inquiries from Southeast Asia and the MENA region. We cannot imagine a more appropriate opportunity to gain such exposure to prospective quality partners coming from all over the world,” said Frank Kauer, Managing Director of SKN Global Limited in Hong Kong.
Robert Bonet Gallardo, Manager of LED Tech Iberica SL in Spain, remarked “Our company is engaged in selling all kinds of illumination products especially LED lighting via our franchises. [Last Spring Edition was] our first-time visit to the Lighting Fair and we successfully found four potential suppliers, mainly from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, for the supply of commercial lighting products. After the fair, we ordered $60,000 US worth of commercial lighting products. The business contacts that we established at the fair have been very useful as some can meet the needs of our large projects.”
Different seminars and buyer forums are planned to keep attendees abreast of market information. Co-organized with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the Asian Lighting Forum will have experts from the industry and professional associations gather to discuss the latest market intelligence, technological developments, and regulatory updates in lighting.
In order to enhance the quality of Hong Kong lighting products and encourage new ideas, HKTDC has organized the 8th Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition as a concurrent event of the Spring Edition of the fair. The competition’s theme is “enlightenment,” which aims to showcase the beauty of light.
In addition to HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition), two concurrent fairs will also be held April 13 to 16: HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), which is Asia’s largest electronics fair, will showcase the latest consumer electronics; and HKTDC International ICT Expo, which will offer the newest enterprise solutions, retail technologies, mobile applications, cloud computing solutions, telecommunications, and network products for all businesses.
