How did you enter the lighting industry?
By chance! A group I was working with helped fund Elemental LED in the early stage. As I investigated the company and became more familiar with the industry and LED technology, I was fascinated by the opportunities for growth. I learned that Elemental LED was a part of the early adoption of the technology and it was a dynamic time to enter the industry.
What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen?
The biggest change has been the slowing hesitancy of those in adopting new lighting technology. There is now a thriving thirst for education on all things LED and the adoption of LED lighting to replace traditional lighting methods. It’s very exciting to see the growing popularity of LED technology.
What has been the key to your success?
My strong desire to understand the market at a deeper level and to care about education and partnership. A company can’t make it in this industry as an island. If you want to progress, you have to continually learn both about the latest technology out there, and from other leaders. You must surround yourself with great partners with common goals that ultimately, furthers the success of the organization.
What do you wish you knew when you were first starting out?
I wish I knew how open the industry is to newcomers. In the beginning, Elemental LED forged an independent path. I have since realized that the industry is very welcoming, willing to help others, and interested in building long-lasting partnerships. It’s wonderful to be a part of it.
Where do you see you/your business in the next 5 to 10 years?
Personally, I’d like to continue to provide strategic direction for the company in being a model for others. As for the future of Elemental LED, I see the company continuing to create change and develop LED solutions that make life experiences better.
LED lighting should be everywhere, in all aspect of life – retail, healthcare, industrial, outdoor and more – all to enhance the quality of life. I expect to see Elemental LED take a leading role in the maturation of the industry from where it is toda
