Family-owned Arkansas Lighting – a renowned hospitality-oriented portable lamp manufacturer, which also produces custom ceiling- and wall-mounted fixtures and pendants in Van Buren, Ark. – has broadened its category and customer reach with the acquisition of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.-based Prima Lighting, reportedly one of the oldest U.S. manufacturers of cable and bendable track lighting systems as well as recessed fixtures for the specification market. The new ownership was effective on Friday, March 1.
According to Jeff Null – who along with his brother, Greg, are the second-generation of the Null family to run the business since their father Bob purchased the company in 1997 – the rep forces of both companies will remain intact.
Jeff Null, President of Arkansas Lighting, explains, “We had been looking to expand our business, and Prima Lighting was a super fit since we call on different customers and there is little cross-over of product. While we offer ceiling and wall fixtures, we didn’t do low-voltage [like Prima does].” Arkansas Lighting manufactures approximately 50 percent of its line at its headquarters, most notably its custom, oversized fabric pendants for hospitality applications. Prima Lighting does most of its final assembly at its California facility and counts the specification market as its customer base.
“We expect this merger to vastly expand the product options available for our existing Arkansas
customers and our new Prima customers”, Null adds. “Both client bases will gain new opportunities for introductions to products they may not know exist at this time.”
Prima Lighting owner Adam Lee notes, “Our mission has been to always provide the best combination of product design, quality, customer service, and pricing. We look forward to the new opportunities that this acquisition will bring for Prima employees and customers as Arkansas Lighting continues to build upon the accomplishments of our company.”
At the upcoming HD Expo, held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas in May, the Arkansas Lighting booth will include a sampling from the Prima line. Arkansas Lighting also exhibits at BDNY in New York City.
