Dallas-based lighting, furniture, and accessories company Arteriors has partnered with Minnesota-based Norwest Equity Partners (NEP) with the goal of continuing its growth and expansion. NEP’s investment marks the first time Arteriors has partnered with an institutional investor; the transaction closed on June 18.
Krista Stelling, Arteriors’ SVP of Marketing & Insights, confirmed that this is an investment into the company; however, the exact percentage of ownership will not be disclosed.
Arteriors will reportedly run much as it always has, with Company Founder Mark Moussa at its helm. “Mark Moussa is not going anywhere and will continue to fuel the creative and product direction of Arteriors,” Stelling states. “It’s business as usual. Mark will remain actively involved in all facets of the company. NEP Partners Tim Kuehl and Tony Armand will both join Mark and Steve Davis on the board of directors as a resource and additional sounding board to the management team as Arteriors continues to build out its growth plans.”
Arteriors will continue with its popular Guest Designer collaborations (upcoming partnerships include Ray Booth, Beth Webb, and Workshop/APD), and international business plus offerings for the brand’s contract and hospitality divisions remain the same. “The partnership will help with category expansions such as a larger assortment of more versatile, foundational lighting designs which will complement the brand’s unique statement pieces,” Stelling adds.
Moussa notes, “After 30-plus years as a founder-owned business, our entire team is excited for our investment partnership with NEP, which will help us prioritize and resource our strategic initiatives and provide capital for growth. Providing superior service and value to our customers will remain our top priority as will our efforts to launch new and innovative, design-driven products. I have never been more excited about our prospects for growth and the future.”
NEP is a leading middle market investment firm founded in 1961 with deep experience working with growing, profitable, and scalable industry-leading companies. “The combination of our investment team experience and Arteriors’ ability to consistently offer premium products, highly efficient distribution, and an amazing culture and brand will further support the company’s growth and drive it to the next level,” adds Tim Kuehl, a NEP Partner.
Arteriors was established in 1987 by Mark Moussa as a table lamp and accessories company and has since evolved into a multi-channel, luxury lighting and furnishings brand that offers an extensive array of products ranging from lighting, furniture, wall décor and accessories. Over the years, Arteriors has earned strong support from residential and commercial interior designers and specialty retailers due to its bold and unique designs, freshness of product offering and responsive customer service.
Arteriors has had recent expansions at the New York Design Center, High Point Market, and London’s Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, along with a flourishing guest designer roster.
