After a 26-year career at Progress Lighting, Jim Decker has joined Hinkley as Executive VP/Sales & Marketing, where he will be focused on driving all Sales, Marketing, and Strategic Initiatives for the designer and distributor of decorative lighting and ceiling fans headquartered in Avon Lake, Ohio. This comes on the heels of last week’s announcement of Hinkley Lighting rebranding as Hinkley in order to encompass all of its product categories since its founding in 1922 as a lighting manufacturer.
“I am particularly pleased to welcome Jim to our leadership team in this important role. I see his appointment as another strategic step for Hinkley to accelerate our continued market share growth,” says Jess Wiedemer, President of Hinkley. “Jim is an industry veteran with extensive experience in the Decorative & Commercial lighting industry across multiple channels and end markets, which will be critical as we build on our strategic growth plan.”
Decker has held various leadership roles at Progress Lighting (a division of Hubbell Inc.), most recently as VP/General Manager of the Residential Lighting division, where he was responsible for the overall management of all the Hubbell residential lighting brands across North America and China. A widely recognized and respected member of the American Lighting Association (ALA), Decker has varied experience across multiple disciplines including product development, supply chain management, and operations. While at Hubbell, he held GM positions for both the Prescolite and Kurt Versen commercial lighting brands.
“Jim’s extensive industry experience will be a welcomed asset as we continue to expand our product offering into new product segments,” adds Eric Wiedemer, Vice President of Hinkley.
“This is an exciting time to be joining Hinkley,” Decker remarks. “The company is a premier brand at the forefront of decorative product innovation and has built one of the strongest teams in decorative lighting and ceiling fans today. I am excited about the opportunities to strategically grow the company moving forward.”
