Donald (Donnie) Joe Gressett, owner of Carol’s Lighting with two locations in the Houston area, passed away on Monday, June 10, at age 78.
Don and his wife, Carol, opened their showroom in 1980 offering lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, table and floor lamps, lampshades, and decorative accessories. Together, they made an indelible mark on the industry both professionally and personally. Under their leadership, Carol’s Lighting won two ARTS Awards for best lighting showroom in the Midwest/Southwest region. Don, Carol, and their showroom staff have been long-time active members of the American Lighting Association (ALA) and the Lighting One cooperative.
As astute businessman, Don was well-respected and beloved by his peers. “Don was an integral part of the residential lighting industry, and he will be sorely missed,” noted ALA President & CEO Larry Lauck. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.”
Don is survived by his wife, Carol, daughter Jennifer, and grandson Colin, and predeceased by his son Marc.
Visitation will be held June 24, from 5-8pm at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas. A celebration of life will be held the following day on June 25 at 11am at Kingwood Funeral Home.
