Industry Veteran Eric Borden Launches Consultancy Business

After more than three decades of experience in the lighting and electrical industry – most recently as Director/Business Development for Kichler – Eric Borden has established his own company whereby he will be offering his expertise to multiple channels as an independent consultant.  

“With my close to 39 years of experience within the lighting and electrical channels, I am able to assist companies in any way possible,” Borden explains. “With my sales, management, training, and product development experiences, I can offer help and guidance within multiple disciplines.”

Borden’s tenure encompasses a wide range of positions in sales and product management, including the progression from sales manager to coordinator and instructor at Sea Gull Lighting’s Learning Center. He holds the American Lighting Association’s (ALA) Lighting Specialist designation and has been named a Pillar of the Industry by the organization for his committee work within the ALA as the long-time chairman of the Education Committee as well as his business accomplishments. He developed various programs and ideas for the ALA and serves as the liaison between the ALA and IES, serving as Co-Chair of the IES Residential Lighting Committee. He now is on ALA’s Education Foundation Board of Trustees. Furthermore, he was named a Leader of the Industry by enLIGHTenment magazine. 

In addition to his consultancy, Borden has establishing the coaching practice Pathfinder Coaching and Guidance. This business is aimed at helping companies develop programs and policies that concentrate on assisting, mentoring, and coaching those individuals and companies within the lighting and electrical channels.

“I am at a point in life where I feel compelled to share my personal experiences with the goal to assist multi-generational members to establish successful career and life goals and then attain them,” Borden remarks. Before embarking on his lighting career, he was former teacher with BA and MA degrees in education. Borden has a wealth of educational experience and recently earned his Certified Professional Coach (CPC) designation through the World Coaching Institute.
