Germs are a pervasive threat in hospitals, homes, public spaces, and workplaces even after wiping and washing surfaces. Preventing deadly infections caused by the spread of these bacteria and other harmful organisms is a constant and costly battle.
To address this concern, two industry veterans—Evolution Lighting LLC and Vital Vio—have launched ellumi™, a ground-breaking LED under-cabinet light that revolutionizes the way germs are killed on any surface safely, effectively, and most importantly, continuously.
Unlike other bacteria-killing lights, ellumi™ incorporates Vital Vio’s proprietary VioSafe™ White Light Disinfection™ technology that uses LEDs instead of UV or chemicals, reportedly making it completely safe for humans and pets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
University researchers have proven that VioSafe™ specific wavelengths of visible light are safe for humans, but deadly to bacteria. The ellumi™ under-cabinet light uses these wavelengths to eliminate up to 99 percent of hundreds of germs – bacteria, mold, and fungi – on surfaces while illuminating spaces with the flip of a switch. The lighting technology used in ellumi™ excites certain molecules in harmful microorganisms through photo-activation to produce Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), causing cell wall damage and death over time.
According to the manufacturer, ellumi™ can safely provide continuous surface disinfection in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, offices, and other indoor surfaces. Powered by Vital Vio™, it has proven to be effective on strep, staph/MRSA, E. coli, salmonella, listeria, and other harmful microbes, which are often found hiding on commonly used surfaces. This technology offers continuous disinfection and therefore reduced risk of associated illness.
ellumi™ is available in 4 sizes and can link up to 6 units at a time (9”, 12”, 18”, and 24”). With the dual-mount option to plug in directly to an outlet or direct-wire to a circuit, ellumi™ provides homeowners, renters, and employers a way to continuously disinfect and protect surfaces.
