San Jose, Calif.-based SWITCH® Lighting, the manufacturer of liquid-cooled LED replacement A lamps, has announced that its 100 watt-equivalent – the SWITCH100 – has won the Product Innovation Award for the Retrofit Sources category in the 2013 Product Innovation Awards (PIA) by Architectural SSL Magazine.
“It’s an honor to win this award because architectural lighting has always been very important to our designers and engineers,” says VP/Marketing & National Accounts at SWITCH Lighting Gary Rosenfield. “The fact that our lamps can be used in any orientation and in any type of fixture distinguishes us from the competition. While architects and lighting design professionals have always appreciated the sleek industrial design and functionality of SWITCH, we feel this Product Innovation Award further validates our technology and position in the marketplace.”
With the phase-out of the 100-watt incandescent lamp already in effect in the U.S., the SWITCH100 will be one of the first 100 watt-equivalent LED A-lamps on the market. It is designed to provide the same warm glow of a 10-watt while using approximately 80 percent less energy for a lifespan of 25,000 hours. The SWITCH100’s 1600 lumen output and radial flux is reportedly equal to any incandescent. It is fully dimmable and can work in any fixture – even upside down and outdoors.
Judged by design and product specialists in the architectural market and the staff of Architectural SSL, the Product Innovation Awards recognize the most innovative LED and solid-state fixtures and luminaires in the lighting industry across 37 different categories.
