The recent 2014 ARTS Award Finalist in the Portable Lamps category, Little Rock, Ark.-based Thumprints is the newest company to join the fold at American Lighting Brands, the Chicago-based parent company of Framburg, Arroyo Craftsman, House of Troy, and G. Scatchard.
Malcolm Tripp, president/owner of American Lighting Brands, has a solid reputation for assisting small domestic manufacturers and providing them with a more comprehensive infrastructure through his larger corporation, allowing them to grow their businesses while continuing to manufacture in America.
Founded by designer Allison West Davis more than 10 years ago, Thumprints is a uniquely positioned lighting company with products ranging from the mid- to high-end. For the past several years, Davis has been steadily increasing the amount of domestically manufactured goods in her line to approximately 80 percent. American Lighting Brands utilizes its companies’ respective factories in Southern California (Arroyo Craftsman), Vermont (House of Troy and G. Scatchard), and Illinois (Framburg). Under the agreement with Thumprints, Davis will continue as the lead designer and the companies will work together to present a full line of hand-crafted products including portables, fixtures, task lamps, and outdoor lighting.
“We will continue to work with our current manufacturers and be able to add new resources with access to the expertise and manufacturing techniques of the various [sister] companies,” notes Allison Davis. “Our complementary design philosophies and business synergies make it a great fit. [We are] proud to affiliate with companies that have rich histories and well-established brands in the lighting industry,” she comments.
“Thumprints broadens the range of styles we offer to our customers without competing directly with our current brands,” explains Malcolm Tripp. “We look forward to working with Allison and achieving the design, marketing, and operational synergies this combination affords us.”
The collaboration came about as Davis was exploring avenues for expanding the Thumprints brand. Similarly, Tripp recognized Thumprints as a good fit for his group of companies. “We are excited to expand our presence in lighting showrooms and other areas in which American Lighting Brands is very strong,” Davis explains.
American Lighting Brands has a permanent, multi-brand showroom in the Trade Mart at the Dallas Market Center. At the upcoming International Lighting Market in June, the Thumprints product line will be featured alongside its sister companies at American Lighting Brands.
