Jack Melnick, who headed Jack Melnick Sales in San Rafael, Calif., passed away at age 83 on November 3. He worked in the lighting industry for more than 30 years – up to two weeks before his passing – and represented many national accounts in a territory that covered northern California and Reno. Jack was very active in the industry he loved and was regarded by hundreds of business associates as a colleague and friend. He leaves his wife Midge, daughter Rachel Botsford, his beloved dog Max, and three grandchildren. His son David Melnick pre-deceased him. “Jack Melnick was a good friend and a true gentleman of the ‘old school’ with an admirable work ethic,” says EJ Phillips, the national sales manager/showroom division for Nora Lighting. “He was active every day doing the best job possible with diligence and a genuine warmth. He respected his colleagues in the industry and made life-long friends. He exemplified what we all hope to become – a sincere friend and a truly good person.”
