The second annual 2011 held in New York City on October 20, reports record-breaking attendance of 400+ attendees, doubling last year’s numbers.
Hosted by the New York Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society of America (IESNYC), the educational forum on state-of-the-art lighting control systems and energy management technology delivered a full day of accredited educational sessions and a packed exhibit floor of more than 40 exhibitors.
“We are so pleased with the support and turnout of attendees and sponsors for this year’s event. The diversity of the presenters and the quality of the exhibitors delivered a great learning experience for all who attended,” comments Meg Smith, the event’s co-chair. “The desire for those to educate themselves on the topic of lighting controls systems and innovative energy management technologies is so apparent with the interest we received once again from the design, engineering, and lighting community.”
Control This! 2011 featured six accredited educational sessions and the inauguration of “Innovation Place,” a dedicated exhibit area to showcase “not-quite-ready-for-market” technologies and innovations. The expanded technology showcase offered lighting designers, architects, specifiers, contractors, educators, and students a unique opportunity to view the industry’s newest technologies and innovations at more than 40 control manufacturers’ exhibits, while a series of seminars conducted by some of the industry’s leading authorities gave attendees a chance to catch up on the latest advancements.
Attendees enjoyed seminars from industry professionals such as lighting consultant and educator Steve Mesh, Gary Meshberg, director/sales of Encelium Technology; Dane Sanders and Darcie Chinnis of Clanton Associates; Michael Stiller of Michael Stiller Design; Shoshanna Segal of Luminous Flex; Cheryl Massie of WSP Flack & Kurtz; Pol Pla i Conesa and Susanne Seitinger of MIT Fluid Interfaces. PDF versions of all presentations will be available on www.controlthis.org and www.iesnyc.org.
