20th Annual Goombay Bash Is Postponed

For the past two decades, lighting industry veterans have gathered together at Chicago’s Navy Pier to join The H Foundation community in its mission to raise funds for cancer research through its highly anticipated, tropical-themed Goombay Bash gala spearheaded by Horton’s Home Lighting in La Grange, Illinois.

This year will be different, however, as it is for nearly every fundraising event or trade show that attracts crowds of people. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Goombay Bash – scheduled for July 25 – has been postponed until July 2021.

A statement from The H Foundation read, “While we can’t be together physically, we can continue to create connections by showing support, sharing stories, and making our signature cocktail – the Goombay Smash – at home! Our commitment to Fight All Cancers is as strong as ever. Cancer has not stopped, and neither will we.”

The H Foundation urged Goombay Bash supporters to “continue to connect with us as we share fun and creative ways to keep the Goombay spirit going while we cannot celebrate together. We have started the planning and are looking forward to the day when we can celebrate our 20th Goombay Bash together.”

The H Foundation also thanked its “heroes in healthcare” at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University for their partnership.
