The annual, highly anticipated BDNY show, a leading trade fair and conference for hospitality’s boutique and lifestyle segment, has been officially cancelled. The 2020 event had been scheduled for November 8-9 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. The decision was made by organizers after closely monitoring government regulations and safety measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic and after consulting community partners and supporters.
According to a statement released by the Emerald Expositions, “Recent developments have made it impossible to bring our community together safely and successfully. This is due to the ongoing progression of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S., including the latest government data, measures, and guidelines on the phased reopening plans in the U.S.; current restrictions on congregating and large gatherings imposed by states and other government and public health authorities; travel restrictions into the New York City area; and the various company-imposed travel restrictions on employees affecting attendees and participating companies.”
Kevin Gaffney, Group Show Director for BDNY and Vice President of Emerald, adds, “We are disappointed that we are unable to bring everyone together this fall, but we believe this was the right decision to make for the health and wellness of the community.”
“The hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit markets by COVID-19,” adds Michelle Finn, VP of Boutique Design Group. “But our industry is resilient. We know we will come through this challenging time stronger. We cannot overstate how much we appreciate the support of the hospitality community and our partners, and we are here to support you in any way possible.”
Next year’s BDNY is scheduled for November 14-15, 2021.
