More than 950 exhibitors from around the world took part in the fourth edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) April 6-9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Participating countries included France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.S. and, for the first time, Vietnam.
In its first appearance as a stand-alone fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair added three new product zones dedicated to easier sourcing: the Hall of Aurora, featuring 93 exhibitors that presented their high-end offerings; the Hall of LED, featuring 512 exhibitors with the latest developments in LED indoor and outdoor lighting, display panels, and components; and the World of Crystal Chandeliers.
The fair also focused on commercial, decorative, and green lighting, lighting accessories, parts and components, technical and outdoor lighting, trade services, and publications. One trend display area called “Light Up Your Life”, located at Hall 1D concourse, displayed a series of lighting products within a living room setting.
In addition to products, the fair held informational events: a symposium gathering international experts to discuss the latest trends in LED lighting, a seminar on the newest regulations and standards in lighting products, and buyer forums on how to conduct business in the Middle East and Russia.
Last year, Hong Kong exported $9.8 billion worth of lighting products, up 2% over 2010. Its top export markets by ranking were the U.S., mainland China, Japan, Germany, and France.
