Brentwood, N.Y.-based Satco Products, Inc. has filed suit in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of New York (USDC-EDNY) against The Regents of the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) as a result of claim letters issued to Satco’s customers by counsel to UCSB.
Satco, which initiated the recent lawsuit, seeks a declaration that Satco products, as identified in the UCSB claim letters, do not infringe any of the 10 patents asserted by UCSB. The products in question involve filament LED (i.e. Satco S9571 LED CA11 Bulb, the Satco S9875 LED A19 Bulb, the Satco S9870 LED G16 1/2 Bulb, and the 4-watt E12 Dimmable LED Edison Candle Light Bulb).
Satco executives state the company will aggressively defend its products and seek to protect its customers from unwarranted claims. They released a statement that read, “Satco will do what is necessary to defend its products in the future, and looks forward to addressing the merits of these issues in a court of law.”
